When you’ve found the perfect candidate for your business, you don’t want to waste any extra time on the onboarding process.
As an employer, you’ll know the importance of completing the right checks efficiently, so that you can get your employee in the payroll system.
You will need your employee’s employment history and tax information. However, this simple request can become a lengthy process if the candidate can only access this information by post.
This can take up to 15 days, which may significantly extend your recruitment timeline.
You can avoid this issue is by encouraging your employees to use HMRC app. This helps employees access all the information they need such as their income history.
How to use the HMRC App:
- Your new employees can access their past employment and tax history for the current tax year, as well as the five previous tax years, under the ‘Pay As You Earn’ (PAYE) section.
- Sign in to the app using their HMRC login or create one – but remind them that they’ll need their passport or driving licence to hand as proof of identity.
The onboarding and payroll system is easier to navigate for both you and your employees.
Your payroll checklist:
Onboarding new starters with care and precision is essential to managing your payroll. Make sure you attain the following from your new employees:
- Contact details
- Payment information and past tax
- Employment history
